Bamyan World Heritage Site Management - It’s Tangible and Intangible Aspects July 12-15 2007
The Aga Khan Foundation, Afghanistan, in collaboration with the Government, has set up a training institution, known as Programme for Professional Development (PPD) in Bamyan, the Central Highlands Region of Afghanistan. This is proposed to be a sustainable solution to the acutely felt needs for capacity building in the country, particularly in the Central Highlands Region. This centre aims to provide capacity building support in areas like, Programme and project management, participatory development methods, governance, community institution building, basic accounting, management and planning, business development service provisioning, watershed development, modern horticulture development, veterinary science, participatory technology development (PTD), farmer field school approach, forestry and rangeland management, fisheries, poultry husbandry, among others. The Programme would develop and deliver tailor-made packages of applied skills that are short-term, based on the demands of communities, government departments, and development agencies. The programme is envisioned to play a major role in the capacity development of Afghanistan in the future specially in the area of development programme, project and organization development and management.
